A good rule of thumb is one Xbrick® per child – so 25 Xbrick® for a class of 25 pupils. This makes it easy to form seating circles, and every child can take an Xbrick® along, e.g. to work outside or in the hallway.

For individual learning or occasional small-group work, 4-6 pieces per classroom are often enough. For example, two small groups can use the Xbrick® as stools and tables, e.g. for working in the hallway or stack them as an improvised lectern for presentations.

For a seating circle in the classroom, ideally every child has one Xbrick®. Each child can choose their own seat height and place their Xbrick® in the circle themselves. In the end, the Xbrick® should be arranged in a round shape so that all participants can see each other. Our Sitting Circle set equips a classroom perfectly for this.

Of course primary school children can carry the Xbrick® themselves. At just 1.4 kg, the weight is no obstacle for children, and the 6 grip holes make handling easy and intuitive. In addition, Xbrick® is GS-certified and meets the strict migration requirements of the toy safety standard DIN EN 71-3.

The lightweight, modular Xbrick® are perfect for the Chur Model, because they can be regrouped in seconds without tools to create different learning areas for group work, individual work or seating circles. Pupils use the Xbrick® flexibly as a seat, standing desk, platform or small work surface, which intuitively integrates movement into everyday school life. Since the Chur Model is based on open forms of teaching and personal responsibility, the flexible furniture modules help children design their learning environment themselves to suit each task.

With Xbrick®, a green classroom or outdoor lesson can be set up outside in just a few minutes, without any fixed installation. The pupils simply take their Xbrick® outside with them. Thanks to the material properties of EPP, Xbrick® is insulating and easy to clean, so you can comfortably sit on the grass and teach. The simplest option is, of course, just to sit down together outside. But this can be extended as needed: with tabletops, flomo boards or X-tseat f you can also create suitable writing surfaces for teacher-led lessons, group work, seating circles and discussions. In the classroom, Xbrick® can be stored to save space as a stacked bench or a compact shelf tower in a corner of the room. Alternatively, they can go straight under the pupils' desks, where they also serve as an ergonomic footrest. Mobile transport trolleys provide maximum flexibility, allowing the lightweight blocks to be moved all together – or they can be integrated directly into open compartments of existing cupboard units.

Xbrick® do not completely replace classic school chairs, but complement them as an ergonomic and flexible alternative. For several hours of teacher-led lessons, classic school chairs with backrests are still necessary, as sitting on a stool without a backrest for long periods can tire children. However, the Xbrick® can deliberately break up rigid, prolonged sitting. It is used as a dynamic addition whenever flexibility is needed: for agile group work, spontaneous cinema circles, project work, learning in the hallway or lessons in the green classroom.

Xbrick® are well suited for kindergartens, as children can carry the block – weighing only 1.4 kg – by its handles themselves and sit perfectly on it at an ergonomic height of 25 cm when it is laid flat. The pollutant-free, rounded material also invites safe building and movement. For nurseries (children under 3), the system is only suitable to a limited extent – children under 3 should be supervised when using it. However, Xbrick® is very popular with educators in nurseries and daycare centres as a handy, low seat or step, making it easy to get down to the children's eye level.

In everyday school life, Xbrick® can easily be cleaned with lukewarm water, mild soap and a soft cloth, and if necessary also with ethanol – just not with a high-pressure cleaner. You can find detailed instructions in our general FAQs.

Thanks to its three different edge lengths, the Xbrick® flexibly suits almost every age group. For daycare children, the flat side offers a stable seat at a height of 25 cm, while primary school children like to use the middle side at 33.3 cm. Older children and teenagers sit best on the upright side at 50 cm, or use stacked Xbrick® to build full stool-and-table combinations.
